Hello, I am Francis Calabrese. I am a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology studying fashion business management and am passionate about design. I have educational experience in architecture and am very interested in the developmental process of design. A big part of my life and a hobby of mine is collecting vintage clothing. I buy, sell, and appreciate the historical value of a garment and love different aspects that make them so unique, such as fading, repairs, and unique hardware. I believe learning from the past is something that helps us in the future, and this blog will showcase some of my love for vintage and how current brands may be learning.

The name “Babie Bloo” was a nod to one of my favorite designers, Virgil Abloh’s Canary Yellow, which is my biggest inspiration for creative work. I find it interesting to see someone’s portfolio mixed with their interests, and to be able to turn that into a career, I find truly stunning. The choice of my misspelled color was a play on his creative work, made to replicate the extent of my ignorance in the field. I am a beginner, and these things are new to me, thus creating an ignorant misspelling title. The choice of baby blue as my theme was a call towards vintage denim and how sun fading and wearing it over time creates a nice blue patina, hopefully one that I will develop in my craft over time.
